DekaBank donates to the school orchestra "Klanghaufen" of the Wemmetsweiler music society.

DekaBank - Making a Commitment on the Job
Since 2007 our traditional Christmas donation has gone to socially committed institutions and associations as part of our DekaBank - Engagiert vor Ort (DekaBank - Making a Commitment on the Job) initiative. Many DekaBank employees take on voluntary responsibilities at charitable organizations, schools, or sports clubs in a private capacity. We welcome the opportunity to support and promote this personal commitment. Each year employees can apply for 1,000 euros for "their" project. 25,000 euros is made available annually for this initiative.

Die Arche in Frankfurt

Help with homework at Die Arche

DekaBank is a sponsor of Die Arche – Christliches Kinder- und Jugendwerk e. V., a Christian association for children and young people, which opened its eighth location in Germany in Frankfurt am Main in early 2010. Together with other sponsors, DekaBank is helping to ensure that funding is secured for the next three years. Each day Die Arche (The Ark) and its educators – in cooperation with the Berthold-Otto primary school in the Griesheim district of Frankfurt – provide children in need with free midday meals, tutoring and homework help, as well as a variety of activities. The same support people work with children as long as possible in order to give them stability and consistency. The Berthold-Otto primary school has provided Die Arche with space; however, as with all other Die Arche centers it is expected that the Frankfurt location will expand as the number of children and their needs grow. For this reason the search for a building for Die Arche is underway – a building that will enable the organization to improve its services in keeping with demand. According to Die Arche’s founder and director, Bernd Siggelkow, roughly one in four children in Frankfurt is affected by material poverty. Pastor Siggelkow established the first location in Berlin in 1995. Across Germany Die Arche has eighty-seven full-time employees and forty volunteers who help and care for total of approximately 2,000 children.
