We give the highest priority to sustainability

We are committed to a sustainable business strategy – in economic, environmental and social terms. Consequently, sustainable corporate governance is a key element of our sustainability management system.

At DekaBank, the topic of sustainability is dealt with at the top level, by the Board of Management. The Board of Management is responsible for the sustainability strategy, making fundamental decisions regarding this strategy and setting the targets that DekaBank intends to achieve. By firmly establishing the issue of sustainability at the Board of Management level, we are able to consistently implement the strategy in all areas of the company.

The “Sustainability Round Table” is the link between the Board of Management and the Group business units. It comprises members of the top management and the Environmental Officer and deliberates on key issues. It prepares Board of Management decisions, discusses the annual catalogue of measures and monitors their implementation.

Group Development is responsible for coordinating sustainability-related activities throughout the Group. It also acts as an initiator for all areas of action related to the sustainability strategy. Group Development is also in charge of monitoring and controlling the implementation of the catalogue of sustainability measures. Making sustainability management a task of the Group Development unit, which is also responsible for the strategy, demonstrates that DekaBank perceives sustainability as an integral part of its business model.

The sustainability projects and measures in the individual areas are accompanied at the operational level by mentors. These mentors are in place at all hierarchical levels throughout the entire Group.

Our goal is to continually reduce the adverse impact of our business operations and activities on the environment. The Environmental Officer, who was appointed by the Board of Management und heads up Environmental Management at DekaBank, is charged with this task.

At DekaBank, sustainability management is not remote from our operating activities, but is a firmly established part of our business.
